Branding Methods for Promotional Ceramic Mugs
Custom printed mugs can be emblazoned by us in a variety of methods. The prices listed on our internet site for our range of corporate mugs are for a technique called Low Firing. More details about this method and the advantages of this and other methods are detailed below:
- Low Fired Printed Mugs (ceramic)
This process involves a pad printing process using special ceramic inks. A pad print in summary involves a plate which is created with your corporate image or logo. This plate or pad is then dipped into ink and pressed against the mug. After pad printing the ink is left to dry. What happens next is that the branded mug is oven fired to produce a long lasting printed product. This method will make the custom mug dishwasher resistant and microwave safe as well as being quite resitant to scratching. For every-day promotional use or as an event freeby this particular method is ideal as it is lower in cost with good PMS colour matching results too.

- High Fired Printed Mugs (ceramic)
This process is similar to the low fire technique above but with 1 key difference. The customized cerramic mugs are kiln fired and not oven fired. This ensures an even longer image life than the technique above. Apart from durability other advantages of this method is that it allows for larger sized images which tend to look better aesthetically. This is a slightly more expensive process though. Our friendly staff will be able to guide you through if this method is suitable for you.

- Dye Sublimation Full Colour Print Mugs (ceramic)
This method is one of our favourites for custom printed coffee cups. It involves an image directly applied to specially coated mugs. A 1, 2 or full wrap of the promotional coffee cups is possible using this. Therefore the print area is much larger than heat fired techniques detailed above. Without getting too technical we apply a combination of dye sublimation inks, heat and pressure to ensure the image is transferred to the promotional coffee mug. This method is ideal for photographic, full colour 3D and images where there are half-tone colours. (please note this process is only avaialable on White coloured mugs)
Branding Methods for Promotional Stubby Coolers
- Screenprinted Stuby Coolers
The technique of screenprinting may be familar to many people. It invloves a screen which is made of a piece of fine woven fabric which has consisent fine poures. This material is stretched over a frame. A stencil of your image or logo is then created and placed on top of the frame which acts as a block to filter out ink. Ink is then applied and with a rubber blade the ink is consistently dragged along the screen. Presto your custom branded stuby cooler appears. Using this method only spot colours are available and we generally don't advise colours greater than 4. The main advantage of this method is that it is low in cost.

- Plastisol Transfer Stuby Coolers
This technique is becoming more and more common. It allows for full colour print. However the process is more expensive than screenprinting. The effect on promotional stuby holders from a texture perspective provides a more "plastic," feel to the print area. There are some subtleties involved which include adding special additives for a warmer look or a more stronger look by adding extra layers of ink. The ink used in this method of printing on customized stubby coolers is made from PVC (plastic) and not water.

Branding Methods for Promotional Water Bottles
- Screen Printed Water Bottles
The application of spot colours which is screen printed onto promotional branded bottles is conceptually the same as the traditional method of scree printing. Modern techniques allow for special custom made machines to complete this process. Similar to printing on promotional t-shirts ink is applied and filtered through screens to create a customised image before being left to dry. Only spot colour printing is avaialable and we generally recomend no more than 7-8 colours depending on the detail of the image. An illustration of 1 such machine can be seen below:
- Full Colour Sublimated process printing on Custom Printed Plastic Bottles.
This process allows as the title implies a full photographic image on the custom branded bottle. The main disadvantage of this method is that it is more costly than spot colour printing. The easiest way to describe the process invloved in sublimated printing on branded bottles is that it is a technique similar to bubble or ink jet printers. Millions of tiny ink dots create a solid full colour image.
Branding Methods for Promotional Thermal & Car Mugs
- Engraving on Metal Thermal Corporate Mugs
For any custom branded thermal mug which is made from metal we highly recomend a process called engraving. This process as the name implies involves a laser beam of high intensity which physically marks and engraves a metal surface. Sophisticated computer software is required to image your logo or image and is then transferred onto the customized thermal car mug. This process has the advantage of being much more durable than traditional pad or screen printing techniques.

- Pad Printing on Personalized Thermal Mugs
Similar to printing on corporate cerramic mugs. The key difference is that the thermal mugs being made from plastic are not fired i an oven or a kiln. A pad printing process involves a pad which is etched with your logo or image being dipped into ink and pressed against the surface of the customized thermal mug. We highly recomend this process for all plastic surfaces as its comination of low cost and good consistent results mean it is idea for promotional products. Full colour or half tone colour is unfortunately not available.
